I think the problem here is your living off the past. What once worked no longer does so far from highlighting weakness in google for the good of the net you now actively try to destroy the net with bad behaviour. I suspect you long to come in from the cold and decent people to welcome your knowledge back in, if so contact me. But on Google, you may get the Pagerank of the stolen site, but the Backlinks are still pointing to that competitors URL so, it is STILL more likely to still come up for those keywords in their Back Links.

J'avais fait une manipulation du m�me type sur un site que j'administre, � savoir une redirection 302 depuis une ancienne url vers la nouvelle, et j'ai �t� supris de voir les r�sultats : le trafic provenant de google reste le m�me sur l'ancienne url, alors que le nouveau reste au fond du gouffre, et j'ai compris ce qui se passait en regardant le cache Google des anciennes pages qui normalement �taient vides (elles ne contenaient que la redisrection). Apparemment l'erreur est r�par�e, en tout cas pour le blog de Matt. Est-ce le cas partout ou est-ce juste un fix pour son blog pour faire taire la pol�mique ?

Je partage 100% ce qui est dit dans cet article. En effet, en tant que Product Manager d'un site ayant plus de 60.000 visites par jour nous avons �t� victime du "google wash" et du jour au lendemain sans explication le site est descendu de 30 ou 40 places dans le ranking de Google. R�ponse des int�ress�, d�sol� on ne peut rien faire pour vous, c'est la r�gle Google. OK mais quel est le probl�me. Pas de commentaire. Un peu facile comme position de la parte de Google.

It really is hard to meet everyone's standards and ideas of how things should be run. Personally I think a lot of people think too much into things -- though better them than me. I think some people spend too much time trying to please the search engines that they don't focus enough on the content and what their visitors are looking for. I believe SEO should be considered, but it shouldn't be thought about too deeply as to have the whole driving force of the website due to SEO.

Yo pienso que Google ha abierto la puerta a los ladrones, es decir los �nicos que se van a beneficiar de estos cambios son aquellos que en vez de procurar un buen posicionamiento propio o de sus clientes vean que es mas facil denunciar a la competencia, duplicar sus contenidos.
Es lamentable, penoso para webmaster y propietarios de negocios ver que sus negocios en internet se pueden perder de una forma tan injusta.

The trouble with asking Google - or any corporate body - to admit fault, is the requirement to be seen to be keeping face before stockholder confidence.

It's not often you can get coprorate bodies to start admiting faults - and potential liabilities - unless absolutely forced to.

You're raised the issue where it needed to be raised - in the tech community - but I'm not convinced we're going to see Google feel confident of admitting errors and flaws, especially while there is so much expectation behind the company.
